‍Legal deadlines for cancellation

As a rule, you must give notice of termination three months before the annual termination date. However, there are exceptions to this general rule, depending on the reason for the cancellation.

In certain situations, the deadline can be shortened. Here are 2 common examples that may lead to an early termination request.  

1. You sell your property or move

In this case, of course, there is no longer any property to be insured. You can therefore send a request to terminate the contract. The contract is terminated on the date you leave the property.  

2. Your premium has risen sharply 

Your insurance company tells you that the premium has increased. You do not agree with this increase and decide to change company.

You have three months following the notification of the increase to inform the company of your decision.

Cancelling home insurance for homeowners and tenants 

In addition to the deadlines, you must officially notify the cancellation. Whether you are an owner or a tenant, a registered letter is indeed necessary to cancel your contract.

Free cancellation for a new insurance contract

With our online services, everything is easy from the start. When you take out a new contract, you have 14 days to cancel your subscription. This cancellation is free. All you have to do is fil lin the cancellation form we provide at the time of purchase.

In addition, you can cancel your policy at least 3 months before the main expiry date. The cancellation will then take effect on the main expiry date.
